Scrapstore Species Detectives Workshop by Dave Fawcett
Saturday 18th April 10am - 1pm
Dave is a teacher, environmental educator and illustrator, who led expeditions to find rare rainforest creatures.
Join him on an artistic investigation
to imagine how our scrapstore could come to life at night when the humans have gone home. (Remember the wombles or the elves and the shoemaker?)
What wonderful characters and life forms could find their habitat amongst all the variety of fabric, yarn, buttons, stationary and other materials?
Through playful, collaborative activities we'll use the resources on our shelves as inspiration.
Enjoy glueing and snipping mixed media collage to explore our discoveries as "nature scrapbook" pages, adding explanatory sketches, notes or captions.
This workshop is aimed at adults.
It could be suitable for an accompanied teenager if they are creatively confident to work independently on this kind of project in collaboration with a parent.
Showcase
This workshop has now ended so do explore this gallery showcasing just some of our pieces made by workshop participants, created using donations found in the scrap store.
Many pieces will be on display at The Lost and Found Museum exhibit, part of the Adur Art Trail 2026 at the Scrap Space, Open Weekends 6th - 21st June
