Poetry Workshop by Lynne Ridden
Hidden Treasures Workshop Saturday March 28th 2 - 5pm
As an art psychotherapist and a poet my work often involves creatively supporting others to find what may have been lost, buried or hidden from view. We lose many things in our lifetimes, from daily ordinary losses such as our keys or reading glasses, to jobs, homes, relationships. We can lose our parents, grandparents, friends and even our own sense of self. We can lose our memory, our health and wealth. We can even lose our sense of humour!!
As winter turns to spring we are reminded by the emergence of the daffodils, tulips and bluebells on their way, that all is not lost. What was once invisible and underground is now vibrant and alive. On the inner landscape we have our own seasons. Winter can sometimes last for years. We are often mining for gold in the dark.
This workshop encourages us to use the medium of poetry through spoken and written word, collage and card making to mark and/or celebrate both what has been lost to us and what may have been found in the process. In order to unearth what has been buried we will forage for inspiration amongst the lost and found museum – what was once somebody else’s trash can become someone else’s treasure.
